Financial Help for Female Veterans

Are you a female veteran in need of financial assistance? There are many programs in place to help you. We greatly thank you for your service on behalf our country and hope that you find the help you need from the resources below.

Housing

Housing is usually one of the biggest expenses in an American’s life. If you are having financial trouble, getting help with your housing may be just what you need. As a female veteran, you can check out the VA home loan program which allows you to get a loan with no down payment and no private mortgage insurance.

If you already have a VA loan, you may be able to reduce it with the VA Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan. Additionally, those who have suffered an age or service-related disability, can potentially qualify for a grant to build or modify a home.

If you are in a position where you may become homeless in the near future, contact the human, social services, shelter, or housing programs in your state. Most are free or low-cost and can offer shelter for up to several months.

Lastly, if you are in retirement, you may want to consider one of the Armed Forces Retirement Homes (AFRH). They offer wellness services as well as a variety of recreation options.

Plans often cover preventative care services, inpatient hospital services, emergency care, mental health services, assisted living and home health care, and prescriptions written by a VA doctor.

If you have an illness or injury that was caused or worsened by your active duty service, you may qualify for disability compensation. Learn more about VA health benefits here.
