Colorado’s Affordable Residential Energy Program

The Colorado CARE program can help you to make your home more energy efficient which will help to lower your energy bill for years to come. Services offered include energy audits, equipment replacement (insulation, lighting, etc.), and education on energy conservation, to name a few. To qualify, you must live in one of the participating Colorado counties, which can be reviewed here. You must also meet low-income qualifications based on your county and must be currently serviced by one of the following utility companies:

The Colorado LIHEAP Program

This program, created for low income women and families in Colorado, is a state-run operation providing help with utility bill assistance. Cash grants are paid to households who apply and meet the eligibility requirements. Funds are designated to home utility and energy bills only. The Women’s Foundation of Colorado

The WFCO program focuses on assisting women in low income brackets to earn higher, livable wages. Their focus is to help women access better opportunities in order to break the poverty cycle and allow them to better their families. Women Infants and Children Colorado

WIC Colorado is a speciality program offered to women and their children (under age five) who currently live in Colorado and who also receive TANF, Medicaid, or food stamps. WomensNet Foundation

The Amber Grant, made possible by the WomensNet Foundation, has been helping women for over 20 years, in the form of monthly monetary awards and one large year-end grant. One woman is chosen each month to receive $1,000 in grant money to better their life and fulfill their dreams. The Pell Grant

Another program from the federal government, the Pell Grant, is a financial assistance grant. You can receive up to $6,000 per school year to help pay tuition, books, housing and even food. To apply, you must complete a FAFSA form, which you can do here.
