The Amber Grant Program

This small business grant is for female entrepreneurs in Oregon, and it offers a great opportunity to expand your business and fulfill your entrepreneurial dreams.

The grant comes in the form of $1,000 in cash, with a chance at the end of the year to win an additional $10,000 in cash. To be considered, you will have to answer questions regarding your business, your background, what you would do with the money, and more.

Oregon Unemployment Insurance

If you are unemployed by no fault of your own, Oregon unemployment insurance may be able to help you. Examples of reasons that would qualify as “not your fault” include if the company you worked for went out of business, if you were laid off, etc.

Individuals who qualify can receive benefits for a limited period of time so long as they are actively seeking employment and can prove it. One cool thing about this program is that applying for online work is recognized as applying for a job, so if working online was your thing, it can be again.

Pell Grant

If you qualify as low-income and need money for college, then the Federal Pell Grant is the best place to start your search. This grant is for everyone including women, single mothers, and teenagers from low-income families. It offers up to $6,000 per year for twelve years maximum to help you attend a public college or university.

Tuition is deducted from any money received first, and leftover funds can be used to pay for books, fees, room and board, transportation, and more. Though it is a federally-funded grant program, the distribution is handled by the schools themselves.

The Oregon Housing Choice Voucher Program

Formerly known simply as Section 8, this program provides low-income families and single mothers in need with money to pay for rent and utilities. Private homes, apartments, rented condos, etc. are all covered under this program, and all monies are paid directly to the landlord on the renters behalf.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

This food program supplies EBT cards to qualifying low-income single mothers and families so they can buy food at approved retailers. The amount received will depend on a few factors such as income and the number of people living in the household.
