$20,000 Dizzy Feet Foundation Dance Grant

There are millions of women around the nation who love to dance, as well as those who teach dance to children. Women who would like to teach dance to children from low income families may want to apply for the $20,000 Dizzy Feet Foundation Dance Grant. The dance grant helps women be able to offer dance classes to children who may otherwise not be able to afford to take such classes. The Dizzy Feet grants give women who love to dance the opportunity to share their passion with children who live in underserved areas of the country.

The Dizzy Feet Foundation, otherwise known as the American Dance Movement, has been giving out dance grants for over a decade. During that time, they have helped make it possible for children around the country from low income families to be able to participate in dance classes. Their dance grants help cover the costs of providing free classes to the children, and so far there have been over 150,000 children who have received dance education through their assistance.

The $20,000 Dizzy Feet Foundation Dance Grant provides grants to those who qualify around the country. Their goal is to someday help fund dance programs for low income children in every state. The dance programs that they help make possible vary, including those offered by non-profit organizations, schools, after school programs, libraries, community groups, and more. Women who love to teach dance should consider applying for the grant to see if they can be awarded the funds to help teach their passion to underserved children in their area.

Here are some important details to know about the Dizzy Feet Foundation Dance Grant:

  • The Dizzy Feet grants are open to all types of dance programs, including those that will be teaching the children. They also provide grants to programs that provide children an opportunity to learn dance that is not common, such as for those who have challenges.
  • They do not offer grant funds for paying for tuition for select students to attend your class, for field trips, or to cover the costs of dance competitions and dancewear.
  • Eligibility requirements include being a nonprofit organization or governmental organization that serves children who are under the age of 18. Additionally, the dance classes you offer must have at least an 80% low income student rate. This means that that the majority of students who attend your dance classes must come from low income families.
  • Your dance classes must serve at least 300 students throughout the course of a year. This is the number of students that need to take dance classes at your place, and does not include audience members.
  • The dance program you offer also needs to be one that is offered all year long, and you need to offer the dance class at least once per week. They do not provide funds for one-time dance classes, events, or festivals.
  • The cost per child to provide the dance classes cannot exceed $100 per year. While you can charge students for the dance classes, you cannot charge more than $5 per class. The purpose of the dance grant is to make the classes affordable or free for those from low income households.
  • Your dance class also needs to have at least 25% of boys in it. Many dance programs tend to focus on girls, so this stipulation encourages women to get more boys into their dance classes.
  • The Dizzy Feet Foundation prefers to give grants to companies that have been in business for at least three years, and has an overhead that is under 15% of total costs. They also require that at your place of business there is a nondiscrimination policy regarding race, religion, color, sexual orientation, etc.
  • Grants of up to $20,000 are given to those who are chosen to receive the assistance.

Women who are interested in applying for the $20,000 Dizzy Feet Foundation Dance Grant can apply online. Check the organization’s website periodically to keep up on when they will open the grant submission period for that year. You have to apply within that window each year, and if your application is selected you will be notified that you will receive the dance grant.
