3.Promotes job, work and marriage preparation

The Connecticut HUSKY Program

This unique program is solely available to women who have either breast or cervical cancer. If found eligible, women can receive full benefits under Medicaid, if they live in Connecticut. Recipients must be in need of treatment for cervical or breast cancer and be living either at or below 250% of the poverty level, as set by the federal government. Recipients must also be under the age of 65 and can not hold a private health insurance policy that could help pay for all or some of the surgery. Eileen Kraus Scholarship

This scholarship, available exclusively to women in Connecticut, is available in the amount of $5,000. It arose from a partnership between the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame and Kaman Corporation. This money is offered yearly and has been since 2002. You must be currently residing in Connecticut, going into first year of collegians, and be willing and able to attend the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which takes place in Hartford, Connecticut. You can apply here, take note that you will have to submit a two page essay and your high school transcripts with your application.

WIC Connecticut

The Women Infants and Children assistance program offers health and nutritional aid to women and children living in Connecticut. Women can receive nutrition education, support with breastfeeding, WIC approved nutritional foods, healthcare, and nutritional planning, to name a few. All women who are pregnant or recently pregnant (within six months), children under five years of age, and women with foster children under five are all eligible. The Connecticut Pell Grant

The federal Pell grant is available to students attending participating colleges in Connecticut. Funding amounts can reach up to $6,000 per school year and the grant has a maximum limit of twelve school years. This means you can receive a maximum total, over twelve years of school, of roughly $72,000. To apply for this grant, you must complete a FAFSA form, which you can do online here. Following the application, your school of choice’s financial aid department will notify you of any awards. CT Small Business Express: Grant and Loan Program

This program allows you to team up with The Women’s Business Development Councils experts and get assistance in funding. With their help, you can find out if you qualify for a max of $100,000 in grant money or a max of $300,000 in loan money.
