Grants for Women in Delaware

If you are a woman searching for a helping hand in Delaware, you may be surprised at how many options you have available to you. Food and education are two of the main areas in which assistance is available, however, you can also find programs for help with nutrition planning, starting a business, or even just getting cash to fulfill your dreams. Below you will find a few hand-picked grants and programs benefiting women living in Delaware. Read on to find out if any programs suit your needs.

WomensNet Amber Grant

If you are looking for a cash grant to fulfill a dream or project of yours, look no further than the Amber Grant. This program is available exclusively to women and offers $1,000 per month to one chosen applicant. If you are one of the women chosen for the monthly grant, you will be automatically entered to win another grant in the amount of $10,000 at the end of the year.

While this is a sizable amount of money, it should be noted that there is an application fee of $15 per application. Applications are only good for the month in which you apply. To see a full list of eligibility requirements and restrictions, as well as to apply, visit their website here.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families

The TANF program awards cash to eligible applicants and is the largest program of its kind in the state of Delaware, so it’s a good one to apply for if you are in need of this type of assistance. This program gives women in Delaware cash assistance for a time period up to 36 months. However, there are a few strings attached, as well as eligibility and income requirements and limits. One of the contingencies of receiving a check from TANF, is that you work 30 hours each week. To learn more about this program and to see if you meet the requirements, you can visit their website here.

Delaware General Assistance Program

This state-funded cash assistance program was created by the state of Delaware to help low income women and families. Typically, the people who qualify cannot benefit from other programs such as Social Security or TANF. There are several eligibility requirements, such as age, income, and access to resources. To find a full list of requirements and to learn more, visit the General Assistance page here.

Delaware Pell Grant

This scholarship program grants students attending an undergraduate public university up to $6,000 per school year. The money is funded by the federal government and tuition is deducted from the amount you are granted. Anything left over can be used for room, board, and books.

To become a recipient of this scholarship money, you must qualify. The main requirement is that you can demonstrate a major financial need. With an easy online application and disbursement of funds through your school of choice, you might as well head on over to the web page here to apply. On the same page, you will find a list of participating schools in the state of Delaware.

InnovateHER

This program asks entrepreneurs in Delaware (and other states, to be fair), to develop and showcase services or products that have a direct, positive impact on the lives of women and their families. The product and/or service should also fulfill a need in the market and have a high likelihood of commercialization.

First place in this competition will receive $40,000, second place wins $20,000, and third place earns a not too shabby $10,000. There are several stages of the competition, until finally ten are chosen to compete in the finals and three receive the cash rewards.

You can find additional information here, including details on past winners and how to apply.

The state of Delaware offers women many options to get ahead in today’s world. Job insecurity, the birth of a child, and unexpected circumstances are just a few reasons someone may need a grant or other assistance. If you find yourself in need, reach out to one of these organizations to see what can be done to better improve your situation. Assistance could be just one application away.
