TANF

The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program grants cash assistance and helpful services to families in need who have children under the age of 18. Indiana Poor Relief Program

This program was actually put into effect in 1894, and requires Indiana’s 1,000+ towns to provide relief for the poor. This is a state-subsidized program, providing affordable child care to single mothers and low-income families. The Amber Grant

The Amber grant program, funded and distributed by WomensNet since 1998, awards one woman with a cash grant each month, as well as an additional grant at the end of the year to one lucky woman. The monthly grant amount comes in at $1,000 and the end of year grant, which is only awarded to one person, amounts to $10,000.

The application process, while pretty straight-forward, will take a little effort. Be prepared to answer questions about your business, your personal life, and what you intend to do with the money should you win. Also, get ready to fork over $15 for an application fee, since this is a private organization that needs to fund its operation.

This Indiana program provides low-income families and women with assistance for utility bills. It is state-funded, as opposed to federally-funded, and so applicants must meet the state requirements.
