WomensNet founded this program in 1998 to honor a special young woman who passed at the age of 19 before her entrepreneurial dreams could be fulfilled. Ever since, the Amber Grant program has given out 12 $1,000 grants to women each year. From these 12 winners, one is chosen at the end of the year to receive an additional $10,000! The application process is easy, and can be completed online, just be ready to answer a few questions and tell them what you plan on doing with that money should you win. The Kentucky Foundation for Women

This foundation provides two grants each year, specifically to women. The first is the Artist Enrichment grant, which supplies feminist artists with opportunities to expand their development and create positive change in society. The second grant is called the Art Meets Activism Grant, and it is very similar to the first in that it supports feminist artists, as well as organizations, that are focused directly on positive social change within Kentucky. The foundation allots $100,000 to each program, for a total of $200,000 in grant money given out each year. Girl Boss Foundation

This grant is offered bi-annually to female entrepreneurs who are pursuing creative endeavors. Recipients of this grant are awarded an astonishing $15,000 in cash, and are also featured to the Girlboss community providing them with massive exposure. What Girlboss means when they say you must pursue a “creative endeavor” is really anything involving fashion, music, art, design, etc. An important thing to note here is that you must be over the age of 18 to apply. Cancer Care’s Financial Assistance Program

This wonderful financial assistance program provides aid to women who have cancer. It also offers support to men and children in some cases. Areas where women can receive assistance include; child-care, and costs related to treatments, medication, transportation, and others. There are limits on the amounts you can receive. All types of cancer diagnoses are accepted, and you may be able to get help with equipment costs, too. Since this particular organization is a non-profit that relies solely on donations for funding, it can, at times, be tough or impossible to get funding. Women Infants and Children Program

WIC is a federally-funded nutrition and health program that is available to women and children alike, although the children must be under five years of age. The support available ranges from breastfeeding support and healthcare recommendations to nutritional plans, healthy foods, and more. You must be approved to receive any assistance, and income is one of the major deciding factors. A very cool thing about this program is it also extends to foster children under the age of five. Kentucky Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

SNAP, formerly known as the Food Stamps Program, assists low-income families in purchasing food. In recent years, it has changed to the SNAP program and beneficiaries are now given an EBT Card. Monthly amounts vary by case, but $300 to $400 per month seems to be the average for a family of three. Kentucky College Access Program Grant
